What You Get From the Radboud Scholarship
The main award lowers your tuition fee to about 2771 euros. Radboud says this amount is still to be confirmed. The saving is roughly 16200 euros a year.
The scholarship also covers visa costs and residence permit costs. It covers health insurance and liability insurance for your stay. It does not cover rent, food or transport.
The NL Scholarship adds 5000 euros once in your first year. You cannot win it alone. It is always paired with the Radboud Scholarship. When you apply, ask for both.
If your master’s lasts two years, you must pass every first year course to keep the award in year two.
Who Can Apply
You can apply if you meet all of these points:
- You hold a non-EU and non-EEA passport
- You do not qualify for the lower EU and EEA tuition fee for another reason
- Your bachelor’s degree is from outside the Netherlands
- You have no Dutch degree and no earlier Dutch education (an exchange inside your bachelor’s is allowed)
- You meet the English rule of your programme
- You can meet the conditions for a Dutch visa
- You will study full time
Erasmus Mundus and joint degree programmes are not included. A degree from a university of applied sciences is not accepted for direct entry. You may need a pre master’s first.
How Many Awards Each Faculty Has
This is the detail most guides skip. The awards are split by faculty.
| Faculty | Awards |
| Faculty of Science | 9 |
| Faculty of Social Sciences | 7 |
| Nijmegen School of Management | 5 |
| Faculty of Arts | 2 |
| Faculty of Law | 2 |
| Faculty of Philosophy Theology and Religious Studies | 1 |
Each faculty committee reads its own applications. So your odds depend on the faculty you pick. Philosophy has one award. Science has nine. Choose a master’s that truly fits you. Then use this table to judge how strong your profile needs to be.
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover
| Covered | Not covered |
| Reduced tuition fee | Rent and housing |
| Visa and residence permit costs | Food |
| Health and liability insurance | Transport and books |
| NL Scholarship 5000 euros once | Handling fee for the application |
| Flight to the Netherlands |
Radboud states that the cost of living is not covered. Make a full budget before you apply.
How To Apply Step By Step
You ask for the scholarship inside your admission application. You do not wait for an offer.
- Pick an English taught master’s and check its admission rules.
- Send your enrolment request in Studielink.
- Log in to the OSIRIS application system with the email you receive.
- Upload your passport, diploma, transcript, course descriptions, motivation letter and proof of English.
- Tick the Radboud Scholarship and the NL Scholarship.
- Upload your CV and two reference letters.
- Submit before 31 January 2027 at 23:59 CET.
- Pay the handling fee and fix any missing or unclear files when Radboud sends your application back.
- Complete your file before 14 February 2027 at 23:59 CET.
Admission and scholarship are two separate decisions. Getting admitted does not mean you won the scholarship.
How Winners Are Chosen
| Area | What the committee checks |
| Academic excellence | Very strong grades or publications. Fit of your old degree. Ranking of your university. |
| Ambition | Quality of your motivation letter. Past achievements. Internships and volunteering. |
| References | Two letters. Academic references are preferred. |
Your motivation letter should answer three things. What will you study. Why are you ready. How will this programme help you. Use one real project as proof.
Your Deadline in Your Time Zone
The deadline is 23:59 CET. In January CET is UTC plus 1.
| Where you live | Local deadline |

Mistakes That Cost Applicants
- Waiting for the admission offer before asking for the scholarship
- Forgetting the 14 February complete file date
- Ignoring the handling fee
- Choosing referees who have not graded your work
- Using old fee numbers from other websites
- Applying with a degree from a university of applied sciences without checking the rule
Where the Official Pages Disagree
- The tuition amount of 2771 euros is marked as to be confirmed.
- The NL Scholarship page still has some 2026 to 2027 wording in its eligibility list while its main text speaks about 2027 to 2028. Ask Radboud to confirm.
- Some websites show older amounts such as 2695 euros. Those belong to earlier years.
- A 100 euro handling fee and IELTS scores appear in some guides but I did not find them on the pages I checked. Read your programme page.
