The board covers Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum. These districts form the Potohar Plateau. The board runs entirely on examination fees. It receives no government grants.

The Board That Funds Itself
BISE Rawalpindi operates without government grants. It runs only on examination fees paid by students and families.
This model creates a clear incentive. The website SMS service and gazette must work reliably on result day. A system failure on the most important day also hurts the board’s own revenue.
The headquarters moved in March 2013 from Satellite Town to a purpose-built campus at Morgah near the Attock Oil Refinery. The old location could no longer handle the growing number of candidates.
Four Districts One Distinct Profile
The Rawalpindi Board covers a region different from Punjab’s agricultural or industrial belts.
- Rawalpindi city is a cantonment-heavy urban base and twin city.
- Jhelum has one of the highest concentrations of military families in Pakistan. Cantonment schools reflect that population.
- Chakwal is home to Cadet College Choa Saidan Shah and has a reputation as an academic stronghold.
- Attock sits closer to the KPK border and has a mixed agricultural-industrial character.
Chakwal and Jhelum have historically placed more students on the position-holders list relative to their population size. Cadet colleges and cantonment schools provide structured academic environments. Students from civilian schools in the same districts face a different comparison.
Clearing the Islamabad Confusion
BISE Rawalpindi does not cover Islamabad’s federal schools. Students in the federal system sit exams under the Federal Board FBISE. That is a separate body with its own result and timeline.
BISE Rawalpindi only covers Punjab government and private schools within the Rawalpindi division. If you attended a federal school in Islamabad and cannot find a result under Rawalpindi Board you are checking the wrong portal.
Understanding a Stable Pass Rate
Rawalpindi’s performance has stayed in a 60 to 65 percent pass-rate band over recent years. In the most recent cycle roughly 120000 students appeared and around 75000 passed.
A stable range is useful. It means you are not comparing your result against wild swings that have nothing to do with your own preparation. If today’s numbers sit within that historical band the outcome is typical for this board.
What Happens Next
The rules follow the standard Punjab board structure.
- Clearing 40 percent in every subject means 220 out of 550 marks. Your 9th Class score becomes half of your final matric percentage once 10th Class marks are added next year.
- A subject marked Unsatisfactory replaces the older Fail term. You can retake only that subject in the SSC 2nd Annual Supplementary Examination in November or December.
- If a specific score looks like a counting error rather than a fair result rechecking is open for 15 days through the official board website. Rechecking verifies totals and unmarked answers. It does not re-grade the entire paper.
