Orléans University Eiffel Scholarship

Want to study in France on a government scholarship without learning French first? The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2027–2028 at the University of Orléans may be an option for you. Only two master’s programs taught fully in English such as International Economics or Languages, Business and International Management.

Other master’s programs on the university’s Eiffel list are taught in French. Students applying for these programs must provide proof of B2-level French language skills.

The 2027-2028 Eiffel campaign is open now. The master’s deadline is 13 November 2026, about two weeks away.

Pick Your Course First

Orléans covers more than economics and business. The eligible list includes

  • law,
  • mathematics,
  • computing,
  • chemistry,
  • environment,
  • life sciences,
  • humanities and engineering.

Your teaching language narrows the field quickly.

ProgrammeEntryLanguage
International EconomicsM1 and M2English
Other listed master’s and engineering courses Varies by courseFrench (B2 proof required)
Languages, Business and International ManagementM1 and M2English

M1 is the first master’s year and M2 is the second. Which one you enter depends on your previous qualifications.

An English-taught course does not erase every language question. The call sets no blanket English-test waiver, so follow the language rules of the programme you choose.

My advice: choose the course that builds on your strongest academic work, then say so plainly in your career plan. A specific reason for Orléans reads better than general excitement about studying abroad.

Who Can Be Nominated

Eiffel is for foreign nationals. If you also hold French nationality, you are excluded.

Age limits for the 2027 selection:

  • Master’s applicants: born after 31 March 1997
  • Doctoral applicants: born after 31 March 1991

Other conditions to check:

  • Orléans accepts master’s candidates who are currently studying abroad, not those already enrolled in France.
  • Doctoral applicants abroad get priority, though some already in France may qualify.
  • An existing French government scholarship can make you ineligible.
  • Eiffel cannot be combined with Erasmus+ or an AUF scholarship.
  • Orléans rejects applications sent to several institutions, so pick one host.

What the Money Covers

Current regulations set the monthly allowance at €1,200 for master’s recipients and €2,000 for doctoral recipients. Travel, insurance, housing-search assistance and cultural activities are also part of the package, under programme conditions.

Housing assistance helps you find a place to live. It does not pay your rent, so you still need a budget for that.

How long support lasts:

  • Master’s entering M1: up to 24 months
  • Master’s entering M2: up to 12 months
  • Eligible engineering study: up to 36 months
  • Doctoral awards: 12, 18 or 36 months, depending on the research arrangement and stage

The Master’s Document Pack

Your transcripts and your career plan should tell one story: what you studied, what you want to learn at Orléans, and how you will use it.

The initial pack contains:

  • A CV
  • A cover letter
  • Transcripts for the last three years, with official translations where needed
  • Official cohort-ranking evidence for at least the most recent year (earlier years are encouraged)
  • Proof of B2 French, if your course is taught in French

You also complete the university’s own application form.

If your institution does not issue rankings, ask the Eiffel office for an accepted alternative. Do not estimate a rank yourself.

The Deadline

Master’s deadline: 13 November 2026

Doctoral Deadline: 4 December 2026

How to Apply

Orléans runs its own internal process before anything goes to the national stage. Follow it in this order:

  1. Choose your exact course and entry year. Use the published programme name and decide between M1 and M2.
  2. Build one supporting PDF. Combine your master’s evidence and name it LAST NAME_First Name_Justificatifs-M-Eiffel-UO.pdf, replacing the placeholders with your own name.
  3. Complete the university form. Download from here.
  4. Email both files together to bourse.eiffel@univ-orleans.fr.
  5. Wait for the academic review.
